Students Sparkle Award Winners
The “Student that Sparkles” Award is chosen based on character, leadership and citizenship, not necessarily academics or sports. The “Student that Sparkles” must be a diligent student, completing his/her assignments on time, showing strong effort to learn the subjects. The “Student that Sparkles” demonstrates excellent behavior inside and outside the classroom, is well-mannered, and respectful to peers and teachers. The “Student that Sparkles” displays excellent citizenship by his/her willingness to help fellow classmates, and demonstrates leadership in integrity. Lastly, the “Student that Sparkles”(goes above and beyond showing) shows exemplar character through his/her compassion, honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, optimism, and loyalty in creating a positive world around them.
Who: Mount Pleasant Area School District Students Grades 7-12
Prizes: Two $500 Cash Awards and Two Award Plaques (1 Boy and 1 Girl)
What: Recognizing students for their GPA, Student Awards, Student Extra-Curricular Activities, Community Projects, Volunteerism, and Sparkle Award Committee Interview
How: Guidance counselors will select one boy and one girl from each grade for a total of 12 students based on set criteria from the Sparkle Committee. To enter the competition these 12 candidates must complete an application to be presented to the awards committee along with their rating scale forms which will allow them to move on to the Interview Process. Students will participate in an interview/application appointment which will be a 10 minute panel style interview with the Award Committee.
The boy and girl chosen will each win a $500 cash award. Their names will be honored on a permanent public display on a plaque in the Mt. Pleasant Senior High School. Each individual will also receive a personal plaque and will be honored the following fall at a Pep Rally. They will receive the cash award at the Mt. Pleasant Glass & Ethnic Festival Ceremony and ride in the Festival Parade. (Recipient must be present to receive check).
