Resembling the same granite tablets that already stand proudly in Mount Pleasant’s Veterans’ Park (corner of Main and Diamond Streets), the state of the art Veterans’ Park Digital Wall is the first of its kind, featuring a photo and a short description of local veterans’ service years. Veterans or their family members supply pictures and information for the electronic tablet. The Digital Wall is a unique historical resource tool, which continues the tradition of honoring Mount Pleasant area Veterans.
In the center of the crossroads of Main and Diamond Streets (State Roads 31 and 981) stands the iconic WWI Statue, known as "The Doughboy". It memorializes Mount Pleasant's brave soldiers who fought for our freedom during World War I.
Starting in Mount Pleasant’s Willows Park, the scenic Coal & Coke Trail connects the picturesque communities of southern Westmoreland County. The 6-mile trail is built on the old Pennsylvania Railroad corridor, and sections parallel the active Southwest PA line. In the early 1900s, the old railroad corridor was used to transport coal and coke from the many coal mining companies in the county. Today, visitors come to Mount Pleasant, joining residents, to hike, bike, stroll, jog, or cross-country ski the historic trail that follows the footsteps of General Braddock, H.C. Frick, Andrew Carnegie, and A.C. Cochran.
